MEMORIAL MASS OBSERVED FOR CRASH VICTIMS

These pictures were taken on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in Toledo, Ohio. Many of Toledo's Polish community came together on that day to pay their respects to Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, Marie, and 94 other people who lost their lives on that fateful plane trip to the Russian forest of Katyn. There, they planned on observing the 70th anniversary of the massacre of 22,000 Polish military officers by the Russian army. After the memorial Mass, the participants joined in a candlelight vigil and observed a moment of silence for those who died. Afterward, the Polish National Anthem was played.
