HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  The Polish American Community of Toledo (PACT) wishes everyone a happy, prosperous and safe 2010.  The beginning of a new decade seems like a perfect time to join PACT if you are not already a member.  Meet new people and old friends alike while learning about the culture and traditions of your ancestors; all while having a great time too.  Our Wigilia celebration was such a successful evening.  Everyone enjoyed the food, singing and friendship while sharing the Polish Christmas traditions of Wigilia.  PACT offers many thanks to all who participated and volunteered their time and talents to make this celebration possible.  A special thank you goes to Sister Aloise, Sister Geraldine, Deacon Terry McAuley, Tony and Susan Perzynski, Janice Hummer, Father Brian Hurley and Chelsea, who lit the first candle.  The generosity of all who attended provided a local Polish family of seven with much needed food for their Christmas table and gifts.  We are planning other such events for 2010.  You will receive notices about upcoming events in the mail or by e-mail.  You can also go online to www.polishcommunity.org for a schedule of upcoming events sponsored by PACT.

Another popular event seems to be the presentations by various speakers that PACT offered during the past year.  We will continue to offer these talks during 2010.  If anyone has a person of interest that might be willing to give a presentation, or a topic that interests you, please come to our member meeting on Tuesday, January 19th to give us your suggestions.  This meeting will also allow members to voice their ideas on how PACT can improve or ask questions that they may have.  We will also be asking for nominations for new board members.  If you are someone who would like to help PACT move forward and realize all of the goals of its Mission Statement, please don’t miss this meeting.  Look for information about the meeting in the mail or in your e-mail.

We think that next year will be an exciting year for PACT.  We are currently working on the Casino Sunday which will take place on Sunday, April 11th at the Community Center at Blessed Sacrament Parish.  We will need volunteers and also items for our auction.  We are confident our members will step forward and help.  Casino Sunday will be great fun, especially after a long and frigid winter.   We are also discussing other events that we think will be exciting for our members and anyone else who wants to participate.  All are welcome.  Stay tuned for more information on these upcoming events.
